State Investigating Officer Involved Shooting In Columbia County

(Scott) The Wisconsin Department of Justice Division of Criminal Investigation is investigating an officer involved shooting incident in Columbia County Sunday afternoon. Sheriff’s deputies responded to a field near Highway 33 in the Town of Scott for a reported suicidal person who was armed with a weapon. Authorities say deputies negotiated with the person until they pointed their weapon at law enforcement. Three deputies then discharged their firearms, striking the person. EMS was on standby and law enforcement immediately provided medical care to the individual. Authorities say the person was transported to a local hospital and their condition was unknown by late last night. No one else was injured during the incident. The Department of Justice will be collecting as well as reviewing evidence and will turn over their findings to the Columbia County District Attorney’s Office once their investigation concludes.
