(LOS ANGELES) — With so-called “social distancing” rules in place — and in some places legally enforced — due to the COVID-19 coronavirus pandemic, it’s likely you’re missing your BFF’s. But don’t worry — Netflix has you covered.
The “Netflix Party” app allows you and your friends watch the same movies and TV shows together, complete with rolling chat commentary, screenshot sharing, GIFs, emojis and more, to bring you a little closer…even if you’re far away.
The app, which can be found at netflixparty.com, synchronizes video playback, so you’re all at the same spot, whether you’re binging episodes of Love Is Blind or The Witcher, getting some much-needed laughs with repeats of The Office or stand-up specials like Dave Chappelle’s Sticks and Stones, or checking out thousands of other movie and TV titles on the streaming service.
It’s an interface that will be familiar to online gamers, but now, some 500,000 people all over the world are watching this way. Since this might be the new normal for a long while, you and your besties might as well get on board.
