Smart Phone Orders On Hold At Miller Park

6/9/11 – You can use a smart-phone for lots of things – but not for ordering a brat from your seat at a Milwaukee Brewers’ baseball game. The team unveiled such a plan just before the season started. But it never took effect. And Wednesday, the Brewers said they would put it on hold until next year. Rick Schlesinger, the team’s operating officer, says the problem is with the phone connections at Miller Park. He said the Brewers were not confident enough that the hook-up between smart-phones and the concession purchasing system would work well enough. He says fans have complained about poor cell phone service at the ballpark – and those issues should be addressed as well before next season. When the system does begin, it will be what other Major League teams use to let fans buy food from their seats – a smart-phone app called “At Bat.”
