5/20/12 – Three people wounded early Saturday after someone fired into a crowd outside a bar near the UW Madison campus have been treated and released from a hospital. Madison Police spokesman Joel DeSpain says a blood trail from the scene suggests there may have been a fourth victim, or that the shooter was also injured. The wounded include a 26-year old woman, an 18-year old man and a 23-year old man, all from the Madison area though none are students. DeSpain said the suspect was in some type of altercation with people on the sidewalk in front of Johnny O’s in the 600 block of University Avenue. He retreated to the corner of University Avenue and Hawthorne Court and then fired toward a crowd of about 100 people. No arrests had been made in the case, which police are investigating as an attempted homicide.
