6/10/12 – Harbors in Superior, Green Bay, and Sheboygan will share about seven-million-dollars in state funds to improve their shipping facilities. Governor Scott Walker announced the funding
as part of the state’s Harbor Assistance Program. Superior is getting the most money – around four-point-seven million dollars to preserve an 80-year-old dock used by General Mills. The state D-O-T says a crib bulk-head wall is wearing out – and the dock could be threatened if it’s not improved. Also, Sheboygan County received one-and-a-half million from the state to help remove contaminated sediment from the harbor and the Sheboygan River. And Noble Petro was given 720-thousand dollars for improvements aimed at boosting the company’s oil exports from Green Bay. The program normally covers about 80-percent of a project. Recipients provide the rest.
