Sheriff Warns Of Meth Use Increase

2/17/17 – Dodge County Sheriff Dale Schmidt says drug users are preferring meth over heroin. One reason cited for the growth in meth use has been heroin and opioid users realizing they can still get a high from meth while decreasing the possibility for overdose. People who take methamphetamines will get aggressive, which he says can cause problems with police officers. He also notes that meth users will see significant degradation over years of taking the drug. Schmidt says that most of the methamphetamines are being shipped in from out west, rather than being made in labs here in Dodge County. Mobile meth labs had been a problem before the state cracked down on the sales of over-the-counter items used in making the drug.
