Sheriff Announces Weekend Crackdown In Beaver Dam

3/4/17 – There is a coordinated law enforcement effort planned this weekend in Beaver Dam after authorities got word that a private party with possible gang ties will again be held at a Madison Street bar. Dodge County Sheriff Dale Schmidt says his office will be working with city of Beaver Dam Police and the Wisconsin State Patrol after he received credible information that another big event is taking place at Pop’s Eatery. Schmidt says tomorrow night’s event is reported to have the same individuals who were involved in a February 18th incident that resulted in numerous arrests and citations for weapons, drugs and fighting both inside and outside the establishment. Schmidt says he has learned that those involved in the February incident at Pop’s not only had gang ties but may have also been involved in a gang-related shooting on Madison’s east side. That incident resulted in four people being shot at a BP gas station on East Washington Street. At the time, Madison police reported that the shooting was the result of continued hostilities that started earlier in the evening at a social gathering in another county. Schmidt says he hopes that by acting proactively he will be able to keep the public safe from criminal actions and that by notifying the public ahead of time, illegal activities will be avoided and arrests will not need to be made. The multi-agency enforcement will take place between 9pm Saturday and 4am Sunday on Madison Street in the city and township of Beaver Dam, as well as along Highway 151 between Beaver Dam and Columbus.  Schmidt encourages anyone who witnesses criminal activity, impaired driving or other suspicious activity to immediately notify the sheriff’s office so the appropriate action can be taken.
