Sex Offender Being Placed In Van Dyne

(Van Dyne) A sex offender is being placed in the Fond du Lac County village of Van Dyne. 48-year-old Preston Rintamaki, who was convicted of Second-Degree Sexual Assault of a Child in 1991 and was deemed a sexually violent person in 1999, will be living at N8578 Nitschke Road starting today. Sheriff Mick Fink is opposed to the decision and says all efforts by the Town of Eldorado, Fond du Lac County Corporation Council and District Attorney’s Office have been unable to prevent the out-of-county placement. He points to the fact that there is a 15-year-old girl who resides on Nitschke Road and says that Rintamaki will put her safety in jeopardy. Fink says he will fully honor the order and will continue to fulfill his statutory obligations. He reminds residents that their safety is of his utmost concern and encourages people in the area to contact his office should assistance be needed.

The Wisconsin Court of Appeals has rendered its decision allowing this placement while the appeals case continues. Read the decision here:
