Severe Weather Hits the State

6/9/11- Several rounds of storms drilled southern Wisconsin last night with rain, hail and strong winds. Much of the damage in our area was limited to tree branches and power outages. Wind gusts reached 50 miles per hour in Watertown, while Markesan saw 52-miles-per hour gusts. In Fox Lake, hail about an inch in diameter fell and about 30-customers had their power knocked out. County-wide about 300 customers lost power at the height of the storm but We Energies and Alliant Energy say only a few remain without this morning. Authorities also responded to a barn fire on County Highway P in the town of Ashippun around 10:30 pm. It’s unclear if the weather played a role in starting it.
