(Beaver Dam) Several incumbent alderpersons on the Beaver Dam Common Council have indicated their intentions to run in the spring election. Seats in odd numbered wards are up for election on the April 6 ballot. Declaration of Candidacy papers have been filed by David Hansen in Ward One, Jon Abfall in Ward Three, Mick Fischer in Ward Five, Jack Yuds in Ward Seven and Kevin Burnett in Ward 13. Abfall and Burnett have also filed campaign registration statements, but no candidates have all of their nomination papers submitted as of Friday’s city hall update. There has yet to be any paperwork filed in wards nine and 11 where the incumbents are Jacklyn Shelton and Kay Appenfeldt. No Beaver Dam alderpersons have filed non-candidacy papers at this time. Interested parties have been able to circulate nomination papers since the start of the month and all paperwork must be on file by close of business on Tuesday, January 5. If a primary is needed it would be held on February 16. In addition to municipal contests, statewide races include state superintendent of public instruction and court of appeals judge.
