SEPTEMBER 16TH – EAT AN APPLE

Spiced Apple Oatmeal

½ c. packed brown sugar

2 Tbsp. lemon juice

2 Tbsp.  molasses

3 tsp. ground cinnamon

1 tsp. ground nutmeg

½ tsp. ground ginger

½ tsp. ground all spice

¼ tsp. salt

2 c. steel-cut oats

4 medium apples, peeled and cut into 1” slices

2 large eggs

2 ½ c. water

2 c. 2% milk

1 c. refrigerated vanilla dairy creamer*

Chopped pecans and additional milk, optional

Mix brown sugar, lemon juice, molasses, cinnamon, nutmeg, ginger, allspice & salt. Place apples in greased 4-quart slow cooker. Top with sugar mixture, then oats. Whisk together eggs, water, milk and creamer; pour over oats. Cook, covered, on LOW until oats are tender; 4 ½-5 hours. If desired, serve with pecans and additional milk. *Recipe was tested with Coffee Mate Natural Bliss Vanilla Coffee Creamer.
