Senator Says To Delay Budget Until Foxconn Details Are Figured Out

7/21/17 – A Republican state senator says his colleagues should delay approving the new state budget until they know how much to give Foxconn to locate its new high tech plant in Wisconsin. Luther Olsen of Ripon says delaying the budget would assure that the state would have enough money to give the Taiwanese plant an incentive package. Olsen says he’s not sure how much the incentive package will be, but he’s been told by Senate G-O-P leader Scott Fitzgerald that it could be hundreds of millions of dollars. Fitzgerald has said that lawmakers would probably have to approve the deal. Foxconn makes smartphones and television screens. It’s said to be considering a number of locations in the Badger State. Much of the talk has been focused on a site in Racine County.
