(Fond du Lac) The Fond du Lac County Sheriff’s Office say they have an action plan for security at this week’s County Fair. Sheriff Ryan Waldschmidt says they will have both deputy reserves and full-time deputies working at the fairgrounds.
Meanwhile an action plan is developed each year incorporating security to address the latest crime trends. Waldschmidt says they have to be mindful of what happened at the Waukesha Christmas Parade, the Fourth of July Parade at Highland Park, Illinois, and other mass shooting events.
One change will be barriers put up that cut off vehicle access to the fairgrounds. Other measures will be put in place, but for security reasons authorities have not revealed them.
Waldschmidt says their goal is to make sure everyone can enjoy their experience at the fair without having to worry about their own safety. The fair starts Wednesday and runs through this Sunday at the County Fairgrounds in Fond du Lac.
