7/25/11 – If you have an air conditioner, it should get a little break this week. But you won’t want to turn it off, since highs are supposed be in the 80’s every day. Still, that’s about 10-15 degrees cooler than last week, when stifling heat-and-humidity drove the heat index up to near 130 in parts of southwest Wisconsin. Madison Gas-and-Electric broke new daily electric usage records last Tuesday and Wednesday. X-cel Energy customers in northwest Wisconsin also used record amounts of power to cool down. We Energies came within two-percent of its usage record in eastern Wisconsin. And the Wisconsin Public Service utility got within three-percent of an all-time daily record. We’re expecting temps in the mid 80’s today and tomorrow with rain showers possible on Wednesday.
