(Wisconsin) Newly elected Wisconsin congressman Scott Fitzgerald stopped short of blaming Donald Trump for inciting the violent mob that stormed the US Capitol last week. The Juneau Republican said he thinks [Trump] definitely fired up that crowd in a way, that some people may have believed he meant ‘got to the Capitol and intimidate.’
Fitzgerald adds that “if that’s the way those people perceived it…that’s troubling.”
In an interview Thursday with WisPolitics, Fitzgerald said “a full investigation” needs to be conducted into the events of January 6. Following remarks by the president, the Capitol was overrun by Trump supporters, resulting in the deaths of 5 people.
