School Board Accepts Bid For Sale Of South Beaver Dam Elementary

(Beaver Dam) The Beaver Dam School Board Monday night accepted a bid on the sale of South Beaver Dam Elementary School. Director of Business Services Anne-Marie Malkovich says the minimum bid was set at $90-thousand dollars. Mike Zimmerman submitted the highest bid at $131-thousand dollars. The board approved a five-year facility plan last year that includes the closure of the rural school and its consolidation with Jefferson Elementary starting with this upcoming school year. South Beaver Dam is being sold as-is and does not include existing fixtures, furnishings or equipment. Around $2.25-million dollars will be needed to accommodate the new students from South Beaver Dam at Jefferson Elementary next year. Monday night’s action sets in motion the process of selling the building with the new owner expected to take ownership in early September.
