(Beaver Dam) Beaver Dam residents have a chance to teach their kids smart safety practices this weekend. The Beaver Dam Community Hospital is holding its annual Safety First Open House on Saturday. A MedFlight helicopter will land on the hospital’s Helipad at approximately 11am and the public will be able to inspect an ambulance and fire trucks up close and meet local EMTs, firefighters and police officers. There will also be “fatal vision” goggle demonstrations, CPR instruction, free paper shredding, an expired medication drop-off and child ID fingerprinting and DNA kits. The Beaver Dam Police Department will be hosting a bike rodeo with a safety inspection and bike helmet given away. Safety First will also have plenty of information about enhancing the safety and health of your family from the hospital’s medical clinics, emergency and food and nutrition departments, as well as many other community organizations. Saturday’s free event runs from 9am until noon in the Beaver Dam Community Hospital parking lot and inside the first floor lobby and conference center.
