Safest Way Tour Stops At Michels Corp For Line 5 Relocation Project

(Brownsville) The Safest Way Tour stopped at Michels Corporation in Brownsville Wednesday to tout the Line 5 relocation project. The $450-million-dollar proposed project in Ashland, Bayfield, and Iron Counties is estimated to create over 700 Wisconsin construction jobs.

The projectโ€™s scope includes moving Line 5, a pipeline that carries propane and other energy supplies for the upper Midwest, following a 2019 lawsuit filed by the Bad River Band of Lake Superior Chippewa Indians.

Michels Corporation has been selected as the mainline contractor. The companyโ€™s President and CEO Pat Michels says the project will inject millions in the stateโ€™s economy and ensure the energy needs of the region continues to flow.

The Line 5 relocation project is expected to add $135-million-dollars to Wisconsinโ€™s economic output, increase state tax revenues, and support more than 1,000 jobs. The event in Brownsville was part of a three-day, four-city swing for the Safest Way Tour.
