The Randolph High School football team made a huge statement on Saturday night with a 52-0 win over previously unbeaten St. John’s Northwestern Academies.
The Rockets put points on the board on just their 2nd snap when Brayden Haffele rumbled 62 yards for a touchdown just :50 seconds into the game. Randolph went up 14-0 on a Matt Dykstra 19-yard TD run with 3:48 left in the 1st quarter. The lead ballooned to 20-0 when Haffele connected with Sam Grieger on a 54-yard TD score with :49 left in the opening 12 minutes of play.
Zach Paul and Haffele scored from 10 yards and 5 yards respectively to make it 33-0 heading into the halftime locker room. Paul added another short TD run in the 3rd while Jordan Tietz went around the left side for a 75 yard scamper and Bryce Rataczak added a 5-yard run late to round out the Rocket scoring.
Randolph rolled up 425 yards rushing on the night led by Tietz’s 112 yards. Haffele finished with 90 yards and Paul 75 on the ground.
The Rockets defense dominated the Lancers most of the night and were never in danger of being scored upon. SJNWA (2-1) senior Donnie Austin came into the night averaging 254 yards rushing per game and was held to just 32 yards on 15 carries. Sam Grieger also had two interceptions for Randolph.
Randolph (3-0) will host Cambridge (2-1) next Friday night. The kickoff is set for 7pm.
