Rockets Girls Volleyball Looking To Serve Up Big Season

The Randolph High School girls volleyball team is off to an impressive 9-0 start and are one of the favorites to win the Trailways West in 2020. The Rockets have lost just one set so far this season.

Rockets head coach Jeff Kohlbeck tells DailyDodge.com that his squad worked hard on their own and in open gyms all summer long in preparations for what they hoped would be a fall season.  “I really like the way we are coming together as a team.  The team gets along really well.  We are a very good offensive team.  We can hit from all six positions with a lot of power.” Kohlbeck said.  “Defensively we are going to get there.”

Randolph returns three players who earned All-Trailways West recognition in 2019.   Junior Cassandra Alsum earned 1st Team honors, while Livia Erdman was an 2nd Team choice and sophomore Brandi Fuller got an Honorable Mention nod as a freshman.

Sophomore Carizma Muth was nominated for last week’s Wissports.net High School Athlete of the Week after a big first week of the season.  She finished 2nd in the statewide voting to Emma Johnson of Luxemberg-Casco.

If Randolph wants to make a deep postseason run, coach Kohlbeck says that it will all start with their passing and defense.  The WIAA hopes to still have a postseason tournament and if they do Randolph will move up to Division Three with all of the teams dropping out of the fall season.  He says that if they have a state tournament at the Resch Center that is the goal to get there but there moto is “Play one game at a time and every day we’re on the court we have to be happy and take it as a blessing.”
