Rocket Girls On The Cusp Of State Tournament

The Randolph girls basketball team hits the road today for a WIAA Division 4 Sectional Semifinal against Mishicot.  The tip is set for 3pm.

The Rockets punched their ticket to the Sectional Final with a 52-47 win over 4th ranked Crandon on Thursday.  Sophomore Jorey Buwalda leads Randolph in scoring at 17.2 points per game while junior Presley Buwalda is at 10ppg.  Randolph was ranked 3rd in the final Wissports.net Division Four Coaches Poll.

Mishicot (17-2) was ranked #1 in the final Wissports.net Division Four Coaches Poll. They finished runner-up to Howards Grove in the Big East North Conference.    Mishicot had a pair of six-foot senior post players who will both play NCAA Division Two college basketball.   Kyle Schmidt (16.7p, 9r) is heading to Purdue-Northwest while Desiree Kleiman (16.5p, 8r) is committed to Minnesota State-Mankato.

Randolph’s only appearance at the WIAA State Girls Basketball Tournament came back in 2001, when they dropped a Division Four Semifinal to Gilmanton 49-45.  Mishicot qualified for state last year and dropped a D4 Semifinal to Melrose-Mindoro 57-55 just before the pandemic cancelled the rest of the event.
