The Randolph (22-3) boys basketball team travels to Edgewood High School in Madison for a Sectional Semifinal against Monticello on Thursday night. Tyler Fischer’s squad split the Trailways West Conference championship this season with Markesan with a 12-2 record. Peyton Moldenhauer, Travis Alvin, and Sam Grieger all average around 13 points per game for the Rockets. Randolph took home the Regional championship with wins over Madison Country Day (90-28), Barneveld (67-34) and Cambria-Friesland 64-55).
Monticello (23-1) won the Six Rivers East Conference this season with a perfect 12-0 record. They rolled through the Regional with wins over Black Hawk (68-43) and Argyle (57-41). The Ponies only loss this season was on February 3rd, when they dropped a 73-64 decision at home to Benton. Peter Gustafson leads Monticello in scoring at 21 points per game. Reece Rufer is at 19ppg
These teams met in last year’s Regional Semifinal with Randolph picking up the 65-37 win.
Thursday’s game tips at 7pm with the winner advancing the Sectional Final on Saturday night in Fond du Lac against either Sheboygan Lutheran or Hustisford.
