Rock River Archaeological Society Civil War Artifacts Program

(Dodge County) The Rock River Archaeological Society will be hosting a program displaying Civil War Artifacts and a discussion of how they were used.  Presented by Gene Wiersma of Randolph, the artifacts are a part of his private collection accumulated over nearly 35 years.  One area of focus will be the firearms of the era including the Spencer Repeating rifles and carbines, an early version of a lever action firearm and the worlds first military metallic cartridge repeating rifle.  Other items on display will include swords of officers in the Calvary and Artillery; cannon balls, canteens, and Medals.

The program will be held on Wednesday May 15th at 6:30 PM at the Horicon Marsh Education and Visitor Center. Doors will open at 6:00 PM, with refreshments provided at the end of the evening.  The program is free and open to the public to attend.
