Roadwork On Highway 89 In Columbus Begins Monday

(Columbus) Roadwork on Highway 89 in Columbus is set to begin Monday. To invest in Wisconsin’s transportation system, the governor recently signed a $4.4-million-dollar contract to improve Highway 89/Farnham Street, between Avalon Road and Park Avenue.

The project will replace deteriorated pavement and update the urban section of 89 from an 11-foot drive lane to 12-foot. Work will also add sidewalk and update storm and city sewer as well as water facilities. Highway 89/Farnham Street will remain closed to through traffic during construction.

The posted detour route will follow Highway 19 and Highway 73. Transportation officials say 73 will also be closed at the Highway 89 and Highway 73 intersection for two weeks during construction.

The work zone will remain open to local residences and businesses. Construction is anticipated to be completed in August.
