(Columbus) Columbia County is starting to spring back from recent flooding. Officials announced yesterday that both lanes of Highway 44 in Pardeeville are back open along with Highway 113 near Lodi. In Columbus, the bridge at Highway 16-and-60 remains closed but River Road at Highway 60 is back open.
Meanwhile, residents of Larson House Memory Care and Assisted Living in Columbus returned home after a four-day evacuation. Activity Director Diane Lenz spent several day filling sandbags for others. Thursday evening volunteers stopped at her house with 120 sand bags for her use. Lenz does not know who they were and says they just continued helping others on Campbell Street. A Larson House resident named Shirley was quoted in a press release as saying, “There is no place like home.”
