Remains Of Markesan Man Killed In Pearl Harbor Returning To Community

(Markesan) The remains of a sailor from Markesan killed in the Japanese attack on Pearl Harbor have been identified and will be returned to the community for burial. Navy Hospital Apprentice First Class Keefe Connolly was accounted for on February 11th of this year. He will be buried in Markesan on November 8th, a couple days before Veterans Day. Connolly was assigned to the U.S.S. Oklahoma moored at Ford Island. He was 19-years-old at the time. The ship was struck by several torpedoes and capsized during the attack on December 7th, 1941. According to the Defense POW/MIA Accounting Agency, 429 crewmen on the ship died.
