(Portage) There will be regular COVID testing in Cambria starting next Friday. Columbia County Public Health requested assistance from the Wisconsin National Guard to provide the free, drive-through, nasal swab testing every other week.
The location at the Cambria Fire Department, 702 Elizabeth Street, is open to the community and appointments are not necessary, though online registration is encouraged no sooner than 24 hours prior to the event. Because the extent of interest is unknown, those who plan on being testing in Cambria are asked to prepare for potential wait times.
The test will be conducted while people are in their vehicles. The National Guard will be doing the testing, they will be in uniform and full personal protective equipment. Individuals will be contacted with their results within three-to-seven business days. Columbia County Public Health officials say they understand that Cambria is not a central site in the county, but it allows access to needed testing to residents on a consistent basis. The agency will continue to work on identifying and securing additional testing sites.
The dates, which are subject to change, are on October 23, November 6, November 20 and December 4 between 8:30am and 4:30pm. More information, and the link to register, can be found here: https://register.covidconnect.wi.gov/en-US/
