Regional Unemployment Improves In October

(Dodge County) Regional jobless claims saw improvement in the month of October. The state Department of Workforce Development says the unemployment rate in Dodge County was 2.5-percent in the 10th month of 2023 which is a drop from the 2.8-percent the county saw in September.

Last year, the number was 2.3-percent. Dodge County jumped two spots in the statewide unemployment ranking to seventh.

Columbia Countyโ€™s jobless numbers improved by two-tenths of a percentage point to 2.6-percent in October. The figure last year was 2.3-percent.

Jefferson Countyโ€™s unemployment rate fell by three-tenths of a percent to 2.7-percent last month. A year ago the figure was 2.4-percent.

Fond du Lac County saw the same month-to-month change as Columbia County, going down two-tenths of a percent to 2.6. Their number last year was 2.3-percent. Statewide, the unemployment rate was 3.2-percent last month. The labor force participation rate held steady at 65.8-percent, around three-percent higher than the national rate.
