Regional Jobless Numbers Stay Even In March

(Dodge County) Regional jobless claims stayed relatively steady in the third month of the year.

The state Department of Workforce Development says the unemployment rate in Dodge County was three-percent in March, just a one-tenth of a percent improvement from the month prior. Last year, the number was 2.8-percent. Dodge County jumped seven spots in the statewide unemployment ranking to 12th.

Columbia County jobless numbers, which were at three-percent in March, saw no month-to-month change. In 2023, the figure was 2.6-percent.

Jefferson County’s unemployment rate also stayed even in March at 3.2-percent. A year ago, the number was 2.9-percent.

Fond du Lac County saw a two-tenths of a percentage point increase from February’s 2.7-percent to March’s 2.9. Last year, it was 2.6-percent.

Statewide, the unemployment rate was three-percent, no change from the number reported in February.
