Regional Jobless Numbers Stay Even In January

(Dodge County) Regional jobless claims saw very little change in the first month of the year.

The state Department of Workforce Development says the unemployment rate in Dodge County was 2.5-percent which is a tenth of percent drop from the month prior. Last year, the number was 2.8-percent. Dodge County fell eight spots in the statewide unemployment ranking to 15th.

Columbia County’s jobless numbers saw the same change as Dodge County’s. The figure last year was also 2.8-percent.

Jefferson County’s unemployment rate stayed the same in January as it was in December, at 2.6-percent. A year ago, the number was 2.9-percent.

Fond du Lac County went from 2.4-percent in December to 2.3-percent in January. Their figure last year was 2.6-percent.

Statewide, the unemployment rate was 3.2-percent in January.
