(Dodge County) Jobless claims in the region saw a bit of an uptick in the month of January.
The state Department of Workforce Development says the unemployment rate in Dodge County was 2.5-percent in the first month of 2023 which is up from 1.9-percent the county saw in December. Last year, the number was 2.9-percent. Dodge County dropped five spots in the statewide unemployment ranking to 15th.
Columbia County saw the exact month-to-month change as Dodge County. Their number last year was 3.1-percent.
Jefferson County’s unemployment rate reported a five-tenths increase from December to January at 2.5-percent. In 2022, it was 3.1-percent.
Fond du Lac County went from a 1.8-percent jobless rate in December to 2.3-percent in January. The figure was 2.8-percent a year ago.
Statewide unemployment numbers in January were 2.9-percent, down a tenth of a percent from December. Wisconsin’s labor force participation rate in January was 64.5-percent.
