Regional Jobless Claims Remain Mostly Steady In December

(Dodge County) Jobless claims in the region remained mostly steady last month. The state Department of Workforce Development says the unemployment rate in Dodge County in December was 1.6-percent, up from the 1.5-percent logged in November. Last year the figure was 3.4-percent. Dodge County was ranked 12th in Wisconsin for unemployment rates, a drop of six spots from where the county was in November.

Fond du Lac County saw no change in their rate between November and December which was at 1.5-percent. In 2020, the figure was 3.4-percent.

Columbia County saw their November unemployment, 1.6-percent, go up to 1.7-percent in December. A year ago, the county reported a rate of 3.8-percent.

Jefferson County reported the exact same change as Columbia County, 1.6-percent up to 1.7-percent in December. The 2020 rate was 3.6-percent.

Statewide jobless numbers fell to a record low of 2.8-percent.
