Regional Jobless Claims Have Decreased In October

(Dodge County) Jobless claims in the region have gone down from September to October. The state Department of Workforce Development says the unemployment rate in Dodge County last month was 1.8-percent, down from the 2.1-percent logged in September. It is also a sharp decrease from the 3.2-percent the county saw last October, during the height of the COVID pandemic. The county was ranked 6th in Wisconsin for unemployment rates, up three spots from where they were in September. Fond du Lac County also saw a drop in their rate from September to October from 2.2-percent to 1.9-percent. In 2020, the figure was at 3.3-percent. Columbia County saw the exact same drop from September to October as Fond du Lac County. Last year the county reported a rate of 3.7-percent. Jefferson County is reporting a rate of 2-percent, down from the 2.3-percent recorded in August. Statewide jobless numbers have also decreased from 3.4-percent in September to 3.2-percent in October.
