9/6/12 – There was a spike in the number of cars sold in the region last month compared to August of last year. Reg-Trak of Waterloo reports August sales in the nine-county region increased more than 23-percent when compared to the same month last year. Year-to-year increases range from 14.8-percent in Columbia County to 47.5-percent in Iowa County. In Dodge County, there was a 42-percent increase with 323 cars and trucks sold last month compared to 226 in August of 2011. Meanwhile, year-to-date sales are up almost 14-and-a-half-percent, boosted by the August activity. Each county saw a year-to-date increase through August, ranging from 8.3-percent in Green County to 22.8-percent in Iowa County. Year-to-date vehicle sales in Dodge County are up 11.6-percent, with 2092 sales so far this year compared to 1874 by this same time last year.
