(Reeseville) The chief of the Reeseville Fire Department made his initial appearance in court Monday on charges he fired a weapon while under the influence. Nicholas Gay is facing a misdemeanor charge of Operate a Firearm while Intoxicated. According to the criminal complaint, deputies were called out to a residence on Kohn Road during the early morning hours on March 15th. A caller reported hearing multiple gunshots coming from the home. Several people who were leaving the property in a vehicle were stopped by law enforcement and allegedly said they were drinking before shooting weapons. When questioned, Gay reportedly admitted the same and that they shot around 40 rounds. Deputies reportedly noted a strong odor of intoxicants and that Gay had bloodshot, watery eyes and a thick, slurred speech. Following field sobriety tests, Gay was arrested and transported to the Dodge County Jail. If convicted, the 39-year-old faces no more than nine months behind bars. A signature bond was set at $500 dollars and a one-day jury trial was scheduled for September 16th.
