Rechek’s Recognized By Wisconsin Grocers Association

7/27/17 – The Wisconsin Grocers Association is recognizing Rechek’s Food Pride in Beaver Dam with its Excellence In Operations Award. It is the 14th year the Association has presented the award which is intended to recognize store owners, managers and others in the grocery industry who are instrumental in the success of their stores. Brett and JoDee Rechek have owned Food Pride since 1996. They were nominated by their supplier, SpartanNash who noted their involvement with the community and mission of giving back. That includes around $65-thousand dollars in scholarships funded over the years and $30-thousand dollars given to local charities last year. The nomination says that the Rechek’s also have an “incredible appreciation for their employees,” providing things like continuing education and membership dues to service organizations. Store owner Brett Rechek learned of the award during a surprise announcement at his store this week. Rechek says he has adopted his dad’s philosophy that if your community is going to support you, you need to support your community. He says nobody should ever work for anybody but instead work with everybody, putting people on the same common ground toward the same goal. A formal award will be presented to the Rechek’s at a Wisconsin Grocers Association’s banquet in Green Bay on October 18.
