Recall Election Planned For District 10 Dodge County Board Seat

(Juneau) There will be a recall election for a seat on the Dodge County Board. A petition to recall District 10 Supervisor Thomas Schaefer was officially certified yesterday (Thursday). The recall election will take place on July 13th. Dodge County Clerk Karen Gibson says if there are more than three candidates, a primary will be needed which will be held on July 13th and the recall election will be moved to August 10th. Gibson says her office received the petition on May 18th. She says there needed to be 362 qualified signatures from the district to certify the petition, 381 signatures were verified.  

The recall petition was filed by Dan Siegmann and the Facebook group Free In Dodge. Thomas Schaefer serves on the County Board’s Executive Committee and the Land Resources and Parks Committee. Requests for comments from both Supervisor Schaefer and Siegmann were not immediately returned.  

Gibson says anyone wishing to run as a candidate in the recall election are now eligible to complete necessary paperwork and circulate nomination papers. The 10th Supervisory District consists of the Town of Rubicon, Village of Neosho, and Ward 18 and 19 in the City of Hartford. Gibson says all paperwork must be filed with her office by 5pm on June 15th. Opposition candidates must obtain the signatures of at least 20 people, and no more than 100 eligible voters within District 10 in order to be included on the ballot.
