The Randolph girls basketball team won the programs first ever state championship with a 47-31 victory over defending champ Wisconsin Rapids Assumption on Saturday at The Resch Center in Green Bay. The Rockets (31-0) led 28-17 at the break and outscored the Royals 19-14 in the second half to raise the gold ball as WIAA Division 5 state champs.
Maddie DeVries led the Rockets with 11 points while Jorey Buwalda and Abby Katsma each added 10.
This was the 2nd time Randolph had earned a trip to the state tournament, the only other appearance being in 2001.
