Randolph Girls Hoops Heads To State For 2nd Time In School History

The Randolph girls basketball team will face Highland Friday morning in a WIAA Division Five State Semifinal at the Resch Center in Green Bay.

The #1 ranked Rockets roll into their 2nd ever state tournament with a perfect 29-0 record.  The Trailways West champs punched their ticket to state with a 43-31 win over Albany at the Sectional Final last Saturday in McFarland.  Junior Jorey Buwalda leads the Rockets in scoring at 20 points and also rebounding at 9.4 per contest.

Highland (26-3) is making their first ever trip to the WIAA State Tournament.  The Cardinals head to state after a 54-49 Sectional Final win over Bangor at Richland Center last Saturday.   Highland shared the Six Rivers West championship with Belmont.  The Cardinals have a pair of girls who score in double figures in Rachel Miller (13.3) & Katelyn Esser (12.3).

Randoph’s only other appearance at state came in 2001 when their dropped a Division Four Semifinal to eventual champion Gilmanton

Friday’s D5 State Semifinal tips off at 9:05am.  Coverage begins at 8:30am on 1430 WBEV.

 

The winner will face either Wisconsin Rapids Assumption or Chippawa Falls McDonell Catholic Saturday morning at 11am in the Division Five State Championship Game.
