3/18/17 – There will be six public hearings scheduled across Wisconsin on Governor Scott Walker’s state budget proposal. State Representative Mark Born, a member of the Joint Finance Committee, discussed the public hearings with us yesterday on WBEV’s Community Comment. The Beaver Dam Republican says the “road show” allows the committee to hear directly from the folks in Wisconsin about their thoughts with the budget. The first hearing will be held April 3rd at the University of Wisconsin-Platteville. That will be followed by one on April 5th at State Fair Park outside of Milwaukee and April 7th at Berlin High School. The final three hearings will be April 18th at Spooner High School, April 19th at Ellsworth High School and April 21st at Marinette High School. Born notes that there are northern, southern, western, southern opportunities for constituents to offer input and there will be at least some that are scheduled to go into the evening to allow those with different work schedules to speak to the budget. The Joint Finance Committee will hold state agency briefings in Madison prior to the public hearings. Votes on the budget are expected to begin in early May.
