Probation For Madison Woman Who Fled BDPD Because She Was Scared

(Beaver Dam) A Madison woman pled no contest yesterday to reduced charges for running from Beaver Dam police. Mariela Munoz was initially charged with felony Fleeing but entered a plea to misdemeanor Resisting. An officer observed the 22-year-old driving in excess of the 25-mile-per-hour speed limit on South University Avenue in June. When the officer engaged their emergency lights, the vehicle accelerated away at a high rate of speed reaching up to 60-miles-per-hour on some side streets. When questioned, Munoz said she ran because she was scared due to recent high-profile events involving the police. A five day jail sentence was imposed and stayed and she was placed on probation for one year.
