“We gave up 5 goals in the first half to fall behind. We have done this on a couple of occasions this season and need to turn this around. We came out in the 2nd half with a lot more energy and we were able to give ourselves several good opportunities. Luis Hernandez scored on a nice shot from distance to get us on the board in the 50th minute. This sparked the guys to play even harder which was very good to see. Avery Ollanketo had a very good 2nd half in goal and kept Monona Grove off of the board until the 80th minute on a ball that took an odd bounce that got by him. He played very well for the team today.” – Golden Beaver Coach Dave Elgersma

“The girls showed great effort this week in the midst of a full week of volleyball. We’ve been focusing in on our defense in practice and are showing much more relentless play as a team. Cassidy Peplinski gave us some great minutes this weekend and Amara Denault is always so solid defensively. Super proud of the kid’s effort and the direction we are headed. “ -Gosling Coach Erin Steuerwald

Central Wisconsin Christian took 2nd at the Hilbert Invite on Saturday

The Crusaders took 2nd place in the Hilbert Invite.  We went 3-2 on the day, with our only 2 losses to the championship winning Wittenberg team.  We took the first set in the championship match, and were up 21-20 in the 2nd set before they went on a tough run.

Overall, it was a a great day of volleyball for us, there was a lot of great competition and I thought we responded well.

“Ada Smies led us with 46 kills on the day followed by 42 from Elise Ritzema.   KK Vanderwerff finished the day with 92 assists.   Erin Ruis led us with 77 digs on the day.  Avery Slings led the team with 5 aces.   We host Oakfield in a conference match on Tuesday. ” – Crusaders Coach Dan Ten Napel
