Horicon Wrestling Update

On Saturday, January 22nd, Horicon walked out of Poynette High School with a gold trophy in hand. There was outstanding wrestling all day, that gave Horicon their first tournament win of the season. It was a dual style tournament which matched Horicon up against 5 other teams through out the day, their first opponent, Winnebago Luthern Academy, was a close bout featuring pins from Shayne Fluhr, Cylus Hetzel-Sawyer, Brady Groenwald, and Cayden Reinwald to finish up 40 to 21. Next up was Cedarburg, who the Marshmen topped 63-6, featuring pins again from Hetzel-Sawyer, Groenwold, and Fluhr. Continuing on their roll, Horicon dualed the Co-Op team of Rio/Cambria-Friesland/Randolph/Fall River, which they stomped 54-6, featuring a pin again from Reinwald, and picked up 2 more from Brady Elvers and Bryce Twardokus. After that, the Marshmen faced their toughest opponent of the day, in a very strong Poynette team, who competed in a back and forth battle. However, it was the Marshmen coming away with the criteria win in a 36-36 tie, getting big points from pins by Hetzel-Sawyer, Zamarono, and Reinwald. Lastly, Horicon finished up with a dual against Living Word Lutheran, where they cruised to a 54-18 win. Reinwald picked up his 5th pin do the day, rounding off an immaculate performance. Other top performers were Groenwald, Elvers, Hetzel-Sawyer, and Seth Rohloff, who were all undefeated on the day. All results are on Trackwrestling. The Marshmen are back in action this Thursday, 1/27 at Deerfield High school – Horicon Coach Joe Kern
