Poynette Man Reported As Reckless Driver Killed After Being Ejected During Crash

(Poynette) A Poynette man was killed Friday in a three-vehicle crash in Columbia County. The Wisconsin State Patrol says the crash occurred on Interstate 39 near mile post 86 around 3:30pm. A red sedan was traveling southbound at a high rate of speed when it sideswiped a pick-up truck pulling a trailer. The red sedan entered the median ditch and overturned. The lone driver of the sedan was ejected and came to a rest in the northbound lanes of Interstate 39 where he was struck by northbound vehicle. Prior to the crash, the Columbia County Sheriff received several driving complaints about the red sedan traveling at a high rate of speed. Some callers indicated that he was driving over 100-miles-per-hour on State Highway 16. The State Patrol was assisted at the scene by the Columbia County Sheriff, Columbia Divine Savior EMS, Portage Fire, and Columbia County Medical Examiner.
