Town of Lewiston, WI: On Tuesday, August 10, 2021 at 12:28 AM, the Portage Fire Department were dispatched to N9693 Kuhn Road for a truck fire in a field with possible extension to the building. Enroute to the scene the Columbia County Sheriff verified that the there was smoke in the building, but no noticeable fire. He confirmed that the vehicle was fully involved. Upon arrival fire crews extinguished the truck fire and investigated for extension in the building. They found fire damage to other items stored in the building and smoke damage as well. After extinguishment the fire crews ventilated a large amount of smoke from the building. The owner was treated and released by Aspirus MedEvac for minor burns to the upper torso and head. The owner found the vehicle on fire and towed it out of the building with a tractor prior to our arrival.

Enroute to the scene a second call was dispatched at 12:46 AM, for a semi rollover on Interstate 90/94 at the 108-mile marker of the eastbound lane in the Township of Caledonia. The semi rollover caused complete blockage of both lanes of traffic. PFD arrived with a tender and rescue vehicle and called for mutual aid from Poynette Fire for and engine for fire protection. Fire crews investigated to find heavy oil leaking from the semi, so they began to contain the spill. The semi’s contents were spilled on the highway and needed to be removed before it could be turned upright and towed. PFD helped to clear debris from the roadway and stood by until the roadway could be cleared.

State Patrol was on scene with traffic control and investigation. Blystone’s Towing was on scene to remove the semi and debris from the road. Fortunately, there were no injuries to the driver of the semi. Aspirus MedEvac was on scene to assist and take care of the first responders if needed.
