(Oak Grove) A plea hearing was scheduled Friday for a Beaver Dam man accused of having inappropriate contact with a minor. Matthew Hawley is facing a felony count of Second Degree Sexual Assault of a Child. According to the criminal complaint, the 14-year-old met Hawley through an online website and they agreed to meet up at the Kwik Trip in Fox Lake in October of 2018. Hawley reportedly took the victim to a Town of Oak Grove storage unit where he assaulted her. Investigators located Hawley from descriptions of his vehicle. When questioned, the 38-year-old allegedly admitted to meeting up with someone but fell silent and requested his lawyer when authorities suggested that something more had occurred that night. DNA tests of the victim reportedly matched buccal swabs taken from the suspect. If convicted, Hawley faces up to 40-years in prison. Hawley is due back in court on June 8th.
