Plea Hearing Scheduled For Horicon Man Charged With Not Returning To The Jail

(Juneau) A plea and sentencing hearing was scheduled Thursday for a Horicon man charged with failing to return to the Dodge County jail from a medical appointment. Andrew Zirbel is facing a felony count of Escape – Criminal Arrest.

Dodge County sheriff’s officials notified the public on February 20th that Zirbel, a Huber inmate, failed to return to the jail from a medical evaluation. The 35-year-old was taken into custody that evening.

Sheriff Dale Schmidt thanked the public for their assistance and the hard work of his patrol deputies who followed up on leads before locating and arresting Zirbel. He says those who fail to follow the rules of their Huber privilege will be held accountable.

Huber is a court ordered privilege, allowing inmates to be released from the jail to go to doctor appointments or their workplace but they must report back. The plea and sentencing hearing is scheduled for March 20th.
