9/6/12 – As Democrats gear-up for the finale of their National Convention, a local Republican Congressman says his party made the right selection for a Vice Presidential candidate. Tom Petri told us on WBEV’s Community Comment that his colleague — Congressman Paul Ryan – is ready to bring his Wisconsin values to the White House. He says Ryan has been “on the point” in forging a path that challenges lawmakers to make some unpopular decisions on Medicare and Social Security. Petri says Ryan’s proposed budget is a great starting point and the Janesville Republican has been willing to “take the heat” and submit resolutions that start to make an effort to address our nation’s problems. Petri is running for a 16th term representing the Sixth Congressional District, which includes Beaver Dam, Oshkosh and Fond du Lac, where Petri lives. The 72-year-old will face Democrat Joe Kallas in November.
