(Markesan) Authorities in Green Lake County have taken a person of interest into custody in connection with the armed robbery of a grocery store. The robbery occurred at Ted’s Piggly Wiggly in Markesan just before 9pm Sunday evening. Police Chief William Pflum says the suspects name will not be released until the district attorney files criminal charges. The suspect was wearing a surgical mask and sunglasses when he entered the business at 450 North Margaret Street and acted as if he was shopping. He approached the checkout, pointing to what “appeared to be a handgun” in the waistband of his pants and demanded money before fleeing the scene on foot. Chief Pflum thanked the community for the information that was shared, which he says proved vital to the investigation.
