(Beaver Dam) As the holidays approach, a local non-profit has kicked off an annual campaign. People Against Violent Environment are in their fifth day of their ‘12 Days of Giving’. Each day, PAVE seeks donations of a particular food or life necessity item for its shelter. Associate Director Ashley Welak says they ask for a specific shelter item to be donated from December 1 through December 12. She says they are hoping to raise three months of shelter supplies and roughly $10,000. During the 12 days the group will collect laundry soap, paper towels, trash bags, bleach, among other food related items such as juice, canned pasta, and cereal. On day twelve PAVE asks for a $75 donation to sponsor a night of shelter. During Monday’s appearance on WBEV’s Community Comment, Executive Director Teresa Nienow explained the various expenses that go into providing a night of shelter. She said that includes a bedding bag, hygiene products, food, clothing, electricity, and 24/7 staff support. Pre-bundled grocery items can be picked up Rechek’s Food Pride. Nienow says those interested in donating can go to their Facebook page or website at pavedc.org to see the full list of items they need.
